Meredith Schuman is currently the Coordinator of the Graduate Writing Center at Teachers College Columbia University.  She provides individual consultations with students during all stages of the writing process and creates workshops on various topics related to academic reading and writing.

Meredith was an English Instructor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering for many years and served as Graduate ESL Program Director.  She holds a degree in Theater from Binghamton University and a Master of Fine Arts from Brooklyn College, where she studied Poetry with Allen Ginsberg and Lou Asekoff.

As a tutor, Meredith is patient and supportive and able to set goals for productive sessions.  She enjoys encouraging students to express their diverse views while helping them speak and write with clarity and conviction.   Her experience includes teaching expository writing, creative writing, literature, reading, and public speaking with a focus on adult ESL populations.  She is able to recognize individual strengths and appreciates the different learning styles and abilities of all students.

In her free time Meredith is an avid photographer, enthusiastic theatergoer, BBC binger, and obsessive knitter.
