Christina Cano

English, Social Studies, and College Essay Tutor
Christina Cano is a PhD student in Sociology and Black Studies at Yale University. She graduated with honors from the University of Chicago in 2019 with majors in Sociology and Creative Writing.

At Yale, Christina helps students with reading and writing, research skills and strategies, and general academic coaching. She has been a teaching assistant for courses in sociology, anthropology, and public policy. With the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning, she is a writing partner to a diverse range of students—from first-generation and lower-income freshmen, to upperclassmen applying to post-graduate fellowships, to students with independent creative writing projects. In addition, she has volunteered with the Yale Prison Education Initiative facilitating study halls, running Works in Progress sessions, and as a teaching assistant for coursework in African American studies.

At Cohen Math Prep Christina aims to support students in their unique educational journeys by emphasizing the skills and knowledge they already have and embracing learning styles that best serve their growth without judgement. She is available for tutoring in Social Studies, History, and English, as well as for working with students on their application essays to college and other academic or professional opportunities.
