Test Prep

*** For those inquiring about SAT/ACT prep please read our SAT/ACT FAQ

Cohen Math Prep founder Rob Cohen has studied and taught various standardized tests since he began his teaching career in 2006. During that time he has kept abreast of the changes in these tests and their corresponding prep materials in order to develop and maintain a cutting-edge curriculum for Cohen Math Prep. All Cohen Math Prep test prep tutors have been trained in the same methods.

While each standardized test (from the SAT to the ISEE) has its own idiosyncrasies, Cohen Math Prep has developed certain guiding principles that bind all of them:

  • Know the test: Standardized tests have a habit of changing periodically, and we follow those changes in order to provide the most up-to-date guidance to our students.
  • Personalized approach for each student: When the educational goal is above all else a correct answer, we have found that there can be several different paths to get to that answer and that our job is to lead our students to the path of least resistance.
  • The answer is *in* the test: Especially in the case of multiple choice items, we have many methods for using the test against itself to reveal correct answers.
  • Practice is not enough: Students must not only put in time to work on practice problems and practice tests but they also must take time to reflect on and analyze the thought process that led to a mistake in order to avoid repeating it.

Below is a complete list of standardized tests we have tutored in the past. If you don’t see the scary three/four/five-letter combination for your particular test, we still may have a capable tutor. Contact us for rates and availability.
