Jeff graduated from the University of Virginia in 2008 as an Echols Scholar with a bachelor’s degree in history. He then chose to pursue medicine, completing a pre-med program with a 4.0 GPA and scoring in the 95th percentile on the MCAT exam. He attended medical school at SUNY Downstate, where he spent his summers teaching gross anatomy to PT and PA students. This experience, and his passion for teaching, led Jeff to pursue teaching and tutoring full time. Jeff’s experience in both the humanities and the sciences gives him a unique perspective and the ability to teach to students who may not feel like math and science come naturally to them.
His tutoring philosophy is to present the material in a way that the student can easily relate to. He adapts to the student, employing different methodologies depending on what works best for the student: analogies, formulas, drawings, diagrams, or any combination thereof. In addition to being a tutor, Jeff also sees himself as a coach who can improve the self-esteem and confidence of his pupils.
When Jeff is not tutoring, he spends his free time cooking delicious meals for his wife and two sons, one of whom will inevitably say they don’t like it.
