Believe it or not, the invention we fondly call the jungle gym (or monkey bars) was first devised by a father to teach his children 3D coordinate geometry. In its original incarnation, the jungle gym had poles intersecting in cubic coordinates with “X” and “Y” poles intersecting parallel to the ground and “Z” poles intersecting them vertically.
